A hero can be described as someone who is strong and fights off evil, but a hero to me is someone who is courageous, brave, and is willing to put themselves in danger to help others. I think that Johnny Cade could be considered a hero because of his brave actions in The Outsiders. In the story, Johnny risked his life more than once to help someone in a bad situation.

There are two times in the novel when Johnny really stands out as a hero. First of all, when Bob was trying to drown Ponyboy. Without Johnny there to help, Ponyboy would of died.
