This play shows a lot about Lena's character. Like how even though she lived in a run- down apartment struggling with poverty, she held her head up high and maintained her dignity. She supported her children even when they made the wrong decisions. When Ruth, Lena's daughter- in- law got pregnant and she found out, she stepped out of the picture and let Ruth tell her husband the news. Not because she didn’t care, it is because she did not want to interfere with their relationship. And that is the type of person she is.
