-Helen Keller I think that in this quote Helen is saying that if you want to build character, then it won’t happen by standing around and watching everything around you happen. But instead to take action and be ready to fail and succeed in your life experiences that define who you are. I agree with her because in order to show your character you can’t hide in the shadows and you need to express yourself. Even though someones character may be anti social it is still necessary to get out to show your character by suffering and achieving success. Character is built off of trial and error which will end up defying how others see who you truly are. I agree with Helen on her perspective of character because of books I have read like The Hunger Games Trilogy and how Katniss shows her character as a leader by gathering food for her family and taking her sisters place in the games. Another similar example would be from The Hatchet when Brian has to survive in the middle of no where with nothing but a small axe (or a hatchet). Brian has to overcome lots of obstacles to build his character, such as fighting off bears and diving to the bottom of a lake to recover a transmitter to save himself. A third book would be 1984 when Winston broke Big Brothers orders by running away with Julia and had sexual affairs even though they would be breaking the law. My
