In 1979 Charles Laverne Singleton convicted of murder Mary Lou York, owner of a grocery store. According to Police Officer testimony at the crime scene, Mary York before die identify Charles Laverne Singleton as whom stabbed her. She died in the way hospital due to bleeding of her neck wound. That same year, Singleton was sentenced to death. At the period when he was waiting to be executed became mentally ill, schizophrenic. He was treated up to improve to the death sentence is applicable. Singleton's execution had been planned five times during 25 years until on 2004 that he was executed. That same year the curt of Arkansas accused him and convicted to death. Since then, he was on death row for more than 24 years. During this time he suffered from mental illnesses, Schizophrenia. He used anti-psychotic drugs and treated for his psychosis. According to Mental Health weekly (2003), “Singleton’s lawyers argued that their client is mentally incompetent and cannot be executed” (p. 1). There is no doubt that he should be punished for an act which was done. But despite with this background could not punishment this person. It is possible that at the time of the crime also he suffered from this disease. Even if we do not consider this possibility, he spent long time in prison and suffer of Schizophrenia so what kind of punishment is appropriate for him? What punishment could be worse than this? Death penalty with medication is not beast punishment for him, on the contrary it is a graceful for him. This helps him to suffer less. Also, this make a conflict between treatment and death. But it should be considered he only in a state of "insanity" when he attempted murder and base on Eighth Amendment, the execution of mentally impaired people it is cruel. Also, Use the doctor and medicine for the execution of insane people is unethical. This undermines medical science as well as a dishonor to the physician. Also we should consider the effects of the drug could be show insane person for period of time as a normal person and it should be noted that he was still a psychopath.
As a result, psychiatric treatment of prisoners sentenced to death until he completely recovered and then execute, it is moral. There is no objection. But the execution of prisoner with mental disorders who with using drug to has healthy symptoms only for a limited period of time, it is cruelty and immoral special when we knowledge of this issue is not guarantee for perfect
