She and her surviving siblings — Branwell, Emily and Anne – created their own fictional worlds, and started down the path as authors. Between 1831 and 1832 Charlotte continued her education at Roe Head in Mirfield and after she graduated she returned to Roe Head as a teacher from 1835 to 1838. In 1839 she took up the first of many positions as governess to families in Yorkshire, a career she pursued until 1841. Charlotte published many works, the first of which being The Professor. Because of the time period that Charlotte lived in, she took up the pen name Currer Bell to keep predjudice away from her work. Her two sisters, Emily and Anne, also took up the fictional surname Bell (Acton and Ellis) to publish their own works. The three sisters were widely successful in writing classics, most of which are household names
