Summarize each point in 2 sentences. 7. The five main points are Environment, Research, Scientific Writing and Publishing, Safety, and Security. The main goal of Environment is to promote sustainability in research and education. Thus, chemists should work to make sure that chemicals are used and disposed of properly and to research and understand the effects of chemicals on the environment and modify their practices accordingly. The guideline for research focuses on promoting research that benefits humanity and can occur in an ethical manner. It reminds chemists to work transparently and honestly while working on beneficial projects. Scientific Writing and Publishing tells chemists to be honest and work to uphold strict reprehensibility standards in published data. Publications should promote the beneficial applications of chemistry and science, and publications should be screened for errors. Safety is perhaps the most important point on the list, as it ensures that chemists have proper controls and safety regulations to protect both humans and the environment. Regular training and the proper use of PPE ensure that people can work safely with chemicals. Finally, security is important to make sure that hazardous chemicals cannot fall into the wrong hands. It reminds chemists to follow the laws surrounding the handling and storage of chemicals, as well as taking additional precautions when …show more content…
Scientific fraud is extremely harmful because it means that no one is able to trust any publication or research worked on by a fraudster and fraudulent data can result in research that goes nowhere resulting in a loss of both time and money. Once fraudulent data is uncovered it is likely that the author has committed fraud elsewhere so none of their data can be trusted, and anyone who has based their own research on fraudulent findings may find that they have wasted their time chasing results that were never real to begin with. Additionally, any co-authors who provided legitimate data will find their own research besmirched due to the actions of the
