A chemical change is when a chemical or substance gets changed into a new substance and the molecules brake to make a different type of molecule. Unlike a physical change a chemical change cannot be undone. Some of the evidence that a chemical reaction has occurred are colour change, smell, temperature change and solidification. Baking powder is used as a leavening agents that causes the cake to rise in the baking process. The cupcake batter has tiny air bubbles called carbon dioxide in it and when it is baked it makes the air bubbles expand making the cupcakes rise. The eggs act as a combining agent used to combine all the ingredients together before the baking process starts.
The chemical reaction in a cupcake is NaHCO₃+H₊Na₊+CO₂+H₂O.
