Do you know the damage being done to the Chesapeake Bay? The bay is home to many organisms and a very large aquatic ecosystem. An ecosystem is a community where living things (like plants and animals) interact with each other and their environment (like air, water, and soil). It's a system where everything works together to support life. Without proper care of the Chesapeake Bay and its critical ecosystem, there could be long negative effects. Animals could become extinct if proper care isn't taken. We need to improve the health of the bay. We need to take steps to protect the bay and the organisms that live in it.

Human activity has a negative effect on the bay. Humans serve as a non-point source of pollutants. Text states "tar on roads; fertilizers and pesticides from lawns and farms; soap from people washing their cars; and trash thrown on the ground are all carried into the bay. Humans abuse the land through excessive hunting and land clearing. As stated in the text "large tracts of land were cleared for various uses, leading to the loss of forests and habitat".

Degraded conditions of the bay are directly linked to the land abuse by humans. We need to put importance on restoring the bay's health. Animals are going extinct because of the land impact humans make. The text states. Today elk, wolves, and cougars are extinct in Maryland.". The bay is a very important habitat for living organisms.
