The English saw no more Indians for four days, however they were still being watched by the Chesapeake’s and the Powhatan’s people. On April 30th, the Englishmen landed on Kecoughtan territory, where they met a much friendlier man named Pochis, son of Powhatan. Pochis had orders from his father to gain information about the weaponry the settlers possessed, and in regards to what plans the newcomers may have with the land.
On May 4th, 1607, Wowinchopunk, the king of the Paspaheghs; was warned of the arrival of three great ships in Chesapeake Bay. The Indian tribe was startled by the white men settling on Pasphegh territory. Wowinchopunk chose to arrange a meeting with these strangers and provide them with a feast.
