For the majority of Chicanos family and family traditions are important aspects of being Chicano in the US. In the movie Miguel illustrates this when he says “We may have our differences, but nothing is more important than family.” And when Miguel’s grandma tells him “being part of this family means you are here for This family.” (Coco) In addition, many older Chicanos had known or know someone who has had relatives that came to the US to find work in the fields much like in “Grapes of Wrath”. What I find interesting about this story is that in the film poor white folk are mistreated because they are looking for work in the fields of California.
