The purpose of Chief Joseph’s speech was to inform the U.S Army that the Nez Perce tribe is tired of fighting with them and running away. Evidence for this statement is in the speech chief Joseph states “I am tired of fighting.” This states that Chief Joseph is clearly tired of fighting with the U.S. Army. Another reason I could tell that he is tired of fighting is because in the speech after he states that he is tired of fighting he states all of the reasons that he is tired of fighting.
