You and I both look out for our people but often take the burden of the workload and the stress on our shoulders and live with it. Both of us feel and know every mission and task is important and for various reasons, neither one of us wants to accept failure for it is a sign of weakness. However, I heard a shipmate pass some good advice that he was given when he made Chief. He was told that tasks are like objects and to think of those objects as a ball, an apple and an egg. You may not want to drop the ball but it is ok to do from time to time because it will bounce back. Try not to drop an apple because it will bruise but is still edible. However, if you drop the egg you have real mess, so don’t drop the egg. Not everything is an egg so don’t make mountains out of mole hills and most tasking are balls that will bounce back so focus mainly on the tasks that cannot be
