When we talk about the family’s role in maltreatment, if the children are challenging to rear, then there’s a high chance of abuse taking place in the family. For example, if the children are very sick or if there are premature babies in the family. When we take the parents’ characteristics into account, the parents that abuse their children have low skills making their children listen to them. This inability will make them feel weak and therefore they will resort to using physical forces. Low – income families, families with marital issues, families that are overcrowded will also contribute the children’s abuse. If the family is located in a community where many violence occurs, it can also add to the stress of the parents and hence inflict more abuse to the child. Therefore, it is important to find a community that has people who you can rely on and lean on during hard times. Therefore, bearing a child when they are still looking for their identity can be very challenging. According to researches, the reasons for adolescent child bearing are their life situations and personal causes. Adolescents who become parents are more likely to be poor, they most probably come from families that don’t support them or not warm and loving enough, experience any kind of domestic violence and abuse, has a family that has gone through a number of marital issues, repeated marriages, and divorces, and they live in neighborhoods that are violent. Children who tend to be adolescent parents are at a higher risk of doing drugs, alcohol, and also, they do poorly in the school. many of these adolescent parents are minors with low – incomes. When their babies are born, there are several aspects of these adolescents’ lives that will change forever. For example, these adolescents will drop out of high school. They will remain unmarried but if they do get married, they will go through marital issues, divorce, and remarriages. Finally, they will have no income and therefore, they will be on welfare. Even if they had an income, it would be a very low income that will cause unsatisfaction. Aside from these, most of the teenage girls will have an unhealthy diet, they’d be smoking and using drugs and most importantly, they will not get good prenatal care. These will lead to pregnancy and birth complications which
