I believe that when some children start school that it can upset them emotionally as they are more than likely used to being with their family and coming to school is a far stretch to what they are normally used to. I have witnessed children coming to my setting displaying behaviours, such as; crying and kicking and I believe this could be because it’s possibly this child’s first time being separated from his/her mother. Bowlby has made me realise that if we provide a high standard quality of care and show affection to the children by praising them and engaging with them one-to-one then the children can form positive relationships with the practitioners in the setting. An inclusive approach to the children beginning one of the biggest transitions in their life which is attending education, then it can make transitions easier to overcome in the future. (McLeod,
