Abstract
Childhood Obesity has reached epidemic levels in developed countries. Children in the United States form ages 6-11 years old “Who were obese increased from 7 percent in 1980 and nearly 18 percent in 2012” (CDC - Obesity - Facts - Adolescent and School Health, 2015). Overweight and obesity in childhood are known to have significant impact on both physical and psychological health problems. Here’s a question who’s to blame for childhood obesity?
Obesity is the largest concern in our country, but it is just not our country. This has gone worldwide. One of the problems is that the fast food restaurants are supersizing their products and decreasing the cost. This is what causes childhood obesity. As the saying goes you are what you eat as our nation grows so does the appetite of many American children. Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, 20 for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body. (1 Corinthians 6:19-20 ESV - Or do you not know that your body is a, n.d.)
Who is to blame for the childhood obesity the parents or the children? Some will say either why? simply this is the parents is the one who orders or buy’s the food. The parents are the ones who lets their children snack on Junk food such as chips, candy, mountain dew, monster energy drinks, and star bucks coffee on a daily basis and let them watch TV or play video games. The parents do not make their children exercise while eating unhealthy foods this is another reason children are becoming obese this is called lack of responsibility if the parents. The children do not know any better when they are younger so of Corse they are going to eat what is put in front of them. Be not among drunkards or among gluttonous eaters of meat, for the drunkard and the glutton will come to poverty and slumber will clothe them with rags. (proverbs 23:20-21 ESV - Be not among drunkards or among , n.d.)
When they are at a restraunt or home and large portions are there they tend to eat more. Most fast food restaunts do not have healthy menu’s, but yet the parents still take their children out to eat. Some parents do not care what their children eat. Parent are to show their children right from wrong for instance what healthy foods to eat and how to exercise right to that they do not get hurt in the process. Parents are responsible for their children’s well-being. This means buying healthy foods such as fresh fruits and veggies. Stuff like that has low calories and less carbohydrates. If the children are teens some people will say it is their fault because they know better and know how to eat right and exercise to stay fit and healthy. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. (Galatians 5:22-24 ESV - But the fruit of the Spirit is love, - Bible Gateway, n.d.)
Some parents do not care about the child’s well-being. They do not want the hassle of paying attention to them. They stick them in front of a TV or a computer with snacks they make good babysitters. Parents are the ones who put the food in front if the children and they are responsible for the consequences. Parents are supposed to set good examples to their children. Parents need to choose healthier place to take their children out to eat or fix healthy meals, Instead of McDonalds, Taco bell, or ordering pizza.
Another thing is if the children are not getting enough sleep at night it increases the risk of childhood obesity. “Stress may have also play a role, although there are only a handful of studies that have studied this subject so far. For example, a Scottish study of nearly
