Adeline Yen Mah was very abused by her own parents throughout her life in many ways. But, there are two people that helped her get through this abuse. In Chinese Cinderella by Adeline yen Mah Aunt Baba and ye ye demonstrate their belief in adilene in many ways.
First of all Ye Ye had a very strong belief in adeline. Whenever another family member brought adeline down Ye Ye would give her inspirational advice. For example: “Trust me work hard and one day you will show the world what you are made of.” (of. 182-183 yen Mah) This shows Ye Ye’s belief in adelines ability to do great things. This also shows how Ye Ye boosts adelines confidence through speaking to her. Ye Ye’s strong beliefs in Adeline had a large impact on her. For example: “When I go back to school I’ll try even harder” That was said by adeline after ye ye’s inspirational words towards her. This shows that Ye Ye’s quotes effected adeline in a positive manner. Ye Ye wasn't the only one on adelines side in her life. There was also aunt baba.
Aunt Baba…show more content… First of all Aunt Baba and Ye Ye were the only two people in adeline’s life that were kind and caring. Without these people there would only be despair and abuse in adelines life. Also without Ye Ye and Aunt Baba adeline might only focus on the bad and not even notice a sliver of happiness. “I sobbed through the long ceremony besieged with sorrow.” (Yen Mah) This quote depicts when Ye Ye dies and how despaired adeline is without him. This shows without Ye Ye alone adeline is very depressed and saddened. This means if she lost Aunt Baba too there would be little hope for her happiness.
There were few people in a declines life that cared for her. There are many ways in Chinese Cinderella that Ye Ye and aunt Ababa believed in adeline. Lastly adeline suffered an abused life with only two of her family members giving her a second
