Chris didn't say anything he was thinking in his mind if he had a chance he would make the yankees pay for. Chris and Silas had gone behind a bush because they wanted to shoot a yankee that passed through the trail. The next day they went hunting. He picked up his squirrels and shouldered his gun. They walked back to the house. Suddenly Silas stopped and told Chris that he had company to his house. Chris pushed past Silas to see, and the then he cried out. The clearing was full of soldiers in blue uniforms yankee soldiers. Chris could believe the yankees were taking everything from there house. Chris went back behind the bush and was telling Silas that he wasn't scared about shooting a yankees. A horse snorted and a man yelled at it. Chris had ranned and the horse with the man wa behind him. He went behind a dog-bobble bush. The officer was pointing straight at him, screaming, “get ‘em! Get ‘ em! Yonder in the bushes.” there was a shot, but Chris didn't know whether it was Silas or one of the yankees shooting at him. He was slipping on rocks. He heard his pursuers coming, and he got up and trotted of along the edge of the mountain, his feet stumbling over every rock
