13 November 2015 Topic #1 John Krakauer’s in his novel “Into the Wild” wrote descriptive journey of Chris Mccandless, a young man who left his past glory and comfortable life behind and enters the wilderness on his own. He was idealistic young man following his philosophical ideal on his journey to the wild. Chris follow his philosophical idea and over exaggerating which causing him to consequence he could never come back from. Mccandless leave his identification unexpectedly and leave many clue behind his journey. After the incident. many people called him reckless and crazy. But I disagree. I believe Chris Mccandless was passionate about his philosophy way and were able to carry throughout his journey. …show more content…
He was high achiever in his studies in grade school up through college. He was bright and dedicated to the school. From early age, he was ambitious to succeed, and achieved high from the beginning. He was also raised in comfortable environment where he can extend his mind without any worry. However, unlike his parent desired, he took different route by taking Journey to the wilderness.
During his travel, Chris changed his real name into Alex SuperTramp. He hid his real identity and traveled to the wilderness with his new name. Mccandless did not wanted to be recognized by the people. He did not seek for any attention or glory.
"McCandless went into the wilderness not primarily to ponder nature or world at large but, rather, to explore the inner country of his own soul" (182)
Chris Mccandless seek to the wilderness because he was transcendentalist. He did not seek nature to observe neither of beauty or the size but to regain himself. He believed that the society was restraining him from his freedom. He not believe material goods can find him happiness and freedom but nature. Many people called him a fool. The peer called him reckless and met the consequence without any reason. People found Chris as unusual and crazy. However, I consider him as a dreamer.
“It is hardly unusual for a young man to be drawn to a pursuit considered reckless by his elders; engaging in risky behavior is a rite of passage in our culture no less than in most others. Danger has always held a certain allure. That, in large part, is why so many teenagers drive too fast and drink too much and take too many drugs, why it has always been so easy for nations to recruit young men to go to war. It can be argued that youthful derring-do is in fact evolutionarily adaptive, a behavior encoded in our genes. McCandless, in his fashion, merely took risk-taking to its logical extreme.” (182)
Everyone have opportunity to make decision throughout their lives. Although they have freedom to pursuade their passion and dream, not many people actually commit to it.

How many are able to say that? Almost none of us can claim that statement. It is unfortunate that people misinterpret his passion and dream to be mistake. I believe he was able to find
