Although some may argue, Christian de Neuvillette has courage and exhibits his use of it in the play Cyrano de Bergerac. Christian is a cadet in training, who is considered the “new kid in town” despite the fact he is not a kid. Learning about things not to do, de Neuvillette displays his gallantry when he articulates, “your nose” (72) to Cyrano directly. It is a common fact that no one can insult Cyrano’s nose to his face without being challenged to a duel and losing. Christian, oblivious as he is, ruminates he is brave when he affronts Cyrano to his face. Furthermore, Christian deems he is spirited and attempts to address Roxane without Cyrano. Because of his courageous actions he mutters out, “I love you so much…”(88). Accordingly, he feels
