Hrothgar’s speech to Beowulf is a wonderful example of Christian references in this epic poem. Beowulf has just defeated Grendel’s mother and Hrothgar warns him, in his speech, to not let pride rule his life, to remain humble. Hrothgar’s Christian affiliated phrases in his speech include,
