Santa Christina a catholic priestess from the 17th century, was given her title as saint for her strong belief in her religion, and her sense of morality, both of which led to her righteous death. In Nino Ricci’s Lives of the Saints, Christina, mother of the main character, exhibits the same character qualities and has similar situations as Santa Christina. This is seen as, Christina and Santa Christina do not comply to their society, and stand for their own beliefs. In addition, Christina and Santa Christina, both suffered similar punishments for being defiant to their society’s norms. First, Christina and Christina, are both defiant to the customs of their society, as they do not let themselves be pushed around and stand for their own beliefs.
