Christopher Columbus, a loyal Christian was motivated by his beliefs to find new parts of the world to continue the Christian crusade. He was very familiar with the sea and the Portuguese navigational developments. His knowledge of the sea would prove to be the reason for his successful journey to find the New World. This thirty-three day journey, with the backing of the Spanish monarchy would finally take place in the year 1492.

The voyage began with three small ships sailing into the unknown waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
