Chronicle Of The First Crusades: A Comparative Analysis

In examining evidence from Fulcher of Chartes, Chronicle of the First Crusade and The Deeds of the Franks and other Pilgrims to Jerusalem, I argue how the western church looked at its external and internal threats as ways of motivation for their own beliefs of the Roman Church. Crusades were armies of horsemen and foot soldiers meant to attack the infidels and heretics during the middle ages to acquire the land occupied by the Muslims and Cathars. In the high Middle Ages, the Roman church, known as the western church, had taken much of Europe and Christianized it. But there was one empire, the Byzantine Empire, rejecting the papal claims and denying their rule, later coming to terms. An external threat found were the Muslims who conquered
