IMDb (2013) The camera angles I seen used in this shot were: zoom, medium close-up (MCU), close-up (CU), medium long shot (MLS), long shot (LS), extreme long shot (ELS), and telescope view. Darkness is the key in the lighting here. The darkness effects this film immensely. We all know the original Alice in Wonderland, a Disney animation released in 1985. Well, as everyone knows the original is filled with kooky and wacky characters, a colorful picture, and an imaginative world of craziness; but, the film is happy and delightful. The 2010 Alice in Wonderland is dark and way more twisted than the original. SETTING The setting is the white witch’s castle called the Marmoreal. The Marmoreal is a beautiful pearl-white palace. I think the real film location for this castle is in Cornwall, England, UK. What an amazingly beautiful location to use for the white witch! The time period looks like it is portraying the Victorian Era, from 1837 to 1901. The culture is very British; with the tea parties and language mainly in mind here. If one puts aside the darkness and twistedness there is a properness to the film’s characters.
