The Civil War between the North and the South lasted for four years, more than it was expected. In the beginning of the war both states alleged that they deserved to win based on what they believed in and their advantages.
The North believed that they were fighting to defend the Constitution and they deserved to win. They held more advantages than the South, such as more soldiers due to a larger population compared to the South, more supplies to support the war, such as firearms, clothing and footwear due to advanced industrialization, and better roads and railroad system (Keene, Cornell, & O’Donnell, 2013.)
