What causes Asian students to be successful? The surge in the number of Asian Americans has affected many sectors of society. Generally, Asian American students tend to perform well on standardized tests and have a high rate of acceptance into some of the most selective high schools and colleges in United States. The ambition and potential shown by many of these students has improved the standard of the school. All those hard-working Asian students are raising the grading curve and putting too much pressure on the rest of us. In recent years, students from other countries have been outperforming all over the world. Nowadays, there are multiple schools of Asian countries, such as Hong Kong, Taiwan, China, aim to cultivate student become the outstanding talents in every subject. They focus on the knowledge to accumulate and indoctrinate, on how students use and manage the knowledge they learned in school, and on how to understand the knowledge system and structure. They expect student to study every subject to become a "decathlon" person until they are in university. Base on Asian students studied in a high standard of education system, so it affect the standard level of the Asian students become higher too. Once they contribute to the society in the future, it would be easier for them. In China, because of the population is too high, but the educational institutions are too few, so that it is competitive to get a bachelor degree in university. The only accessible way to get into the university is through the joint entrance exam. "The pressure placed on this test means that many students attend classes on weekends to ensure preparedness" as it is more competitive. This type of environment would affect students in other countries to work hard. Asian students know that if they do not get their degree, then they cannot get a better job, such as some corporations, firms or companies, etc. They understand that without educational background is impossible in this society and nowadays without English proficiency does not enough either. In short, Asian students are difficult to survive without a Bachelor Degree, so it affect them to put effort on study by the social pressure. The traditional notion of Asian families are also one of the important reason that affect students from Asia to work hard, as their thinking is more conventional. Mostly the parents would indoctrinate their children that educational background decide their future. The Asian families think that the great importance is to place on parenting, they would like to spend more time with their children and teach them the basic values beside going to school, such as the manner of studying, respect to elders, etc. Generally, the parents will tell their children that they will become a beggar in someday without a good educational background. They expect their children to have their own endurance and sacrifice at all cost to become the best of the best. The article "Introduction to Basic Asians Value" expresses that "Endurance is a measure of self-control and inner strength. Sacrifice is made for the sake of others. Complaining is seen as a sign of weakness, and this may lead to the view of Asians as being uncomplaining, and their being less vocal as a group than other minorities." Under the basis of severe request of Asian families, it pushes student from Asia forward to work hard and get reach of successful. In brief, social and cultural pressure cause Asian American students to succeed academically, as well as globally. On the other hand, there are some of Asian students who love sports and they want to be a professional in this regard, but normally it happen in a slim opportunity. The main reason why they have to give up is because mostly they get a clear message from their parents or some seniors about sports can only be their interest, but not for professional.
