Apply the ACA Code of Ethics The American Counseling Association developed a code of ethics for counselors to understand the requirements to protect and maintain records. The therapist pursuing change has to consult company policy and state rules and regulations. In Oklahoma the regulations that govern therapist actions is found in LPC Laws and Regulations (2010). The regulation refers to the Oklahoma Title 86:10-3-2.g.4 stating counselors and candidates will protect client information. It further refers to Title 59 of the Oklahoma Statutes, Section 1910.
