Henck and Hulme (2008) state, “leaders often make their greatest mistakes out of the mismanagement of their talents as opposed to their weaknesses,” (p. 8). I believe that many of our leaders are unprepared to serve the needs of others because they do not have a foundational understanding of their strengths. The Clifton StrengthsFinder is an effective tool for identifying strengths because it based on over 40 years of research, contains a detailed description of 34 different categories of talent and reveal an individual’s top five innate strengths. StrengthsFinder operates under the philosophy that “the key to human development is building on what you already are,” (Rath, 2012, p. 8). Technology integration is an important aspect of my position, but it can be difficult to tangibly measure its effectiveness. My challenge is to use my talents to help my department measure and communicate our the achievements and successes of infusing technology into instruction. I will learn to use my achievement nature to help others within my organization succeed, improve my explanatory style or the way I interpret events and assist in the development of tangible measurements of the benefits of technology within my organization.
