1. Assess how Ericsson benefitted from Amazon Web Service in terms of cost reduction, automated software updates, remote access, and on-demand availability. Ericsson was able to benefit from the resources that Amazon provided. Amazon had grown to dominate the cloud computing market. Amazon was able to help Ericsson and other companies save money and increase productivity offering their web services to business users around the world. For example, cloud computing has allowed them to scale their resources, pay only for what they used, and have access to excess capacity when needed (Tyson, 2010). Amazon has the overall advantage of serving millions of customers through its e-commerce business which has a unique advantage based on its development and support cloud applications and services. Because of the high efficiency in Amazon’s business model its very own internal cloud was developed and applications were economically allocated across the enterprise in a real life, mission critical environment (Tyson, 2010).
2. Evaluate the scalability, dependability, manageability, and adaptability of Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud, Amazon Simple Storage Services, and RightScale. Amazon offers several levels of cloud computing services to its customers Elastic Compute Cloud, simple storage service, and right scale. Elastic Compute is a processing infrastructure service that powers small to midsize business applications. Elastic Compute Cloud allows businesses to run on its own Amazon infrastructure. It reduces the time that is required to obtain and boot new server instances to minutes, allowing you to quickly scale capacity, both up and down, as your computing requirements change. Amazon has changed the economics of computing by allowing you pay for the capacity that you use (Amazon web services, 2014). Amazon Simple Storage System offers businesses cloud storage capacity without the processing power. It provides a simple web based storage interface that is used to store and retrieve any amount of data, at any time, from any location on the web. Any developer has the opportunity to access the same fast, reliable, scalable, inexpensive infrastructure that Amazon uses to run its own global network of websites. It allows you to offload your entire storage infrastructure onto the cloud, and take advantage of Amazon’s S3’s scalable pay as you go pricing. This system seeks to maximize benefits of scale and to pass along the benefits to developers (Amazon web services, 2014). RightScale is the leader in cloud computing management, and provides a web-based cloud management platform and support services. RightScale cloud management enables businesses to easily deploy and manage critical applications across private, public, and hybrid clouds. Right Scale is able to provide the efficient configuration, automation, monitoring, and governance of cloud computing infrastructure and applications. Three key benefits of RightScale are rapid deployment, dynamic scalable infrastructure, and that minimal resources are needed. With RightScales platform, any organization can easily tap into the enormous power of Amazon’s cloud for a virtually infinite, cost-effective, pay as you go, IT infrastructure that requires less system administration (Amazon web services, 2014).
3. Examine the security concerns for cloud based services and make suggestions to cope with these concerns. Data privacy is a great concern with cloud based services. The newest threat to the cloud has been hijacking. Recently a hijacker downloaded nude photos of celebrities from their iCloud accounts. Individuals have to do research to protect their personal information. There are measures that can be taken to prevent from being a target such as; researching the vendor to assess its credentials by paying close attention to the security protocols that are used, and
