Coach K’s Life and Career Coach K was born on February 13th 1947 in his hometown of Chicago, Illinois. Coach K attended Weber High school in Chicago Illinois. Coach K would later go on to play basketball at West Point under all time great head coach Bob Knight. He wore #12 while he attended and played on the U.S.M.A team. He played Point Guard and Shooting Guard for his team. In his senior year he was named the team captain which was during the 1968-69 season. During that season he accomplished multiple achievements. He was named to the second team all-NIT team, He played in the North vs. South game, He lead his U.S.M.A team to the National Invitation Tournament ( NIT ) and then would later go on to place 4th out

All of his daughters are currently married. The Krzyzewski’s in total have 3 daughters al0ng with 9 grandchildren. The Krzyzewski’s operate and own the Emily K center which is named after mike’s mother. The Emily K center was established in 2006. The Emily K Center is a non-profit organization that helps students K-12 prepare for college and helps them make plans for success at the college level. He then went on to receive his first Head coaching opportunity at Indiana University for the 1974-75 season. After that season he went on to Head coach at the U.S.M.A from 1975-80. After that he ended up at his future home of Duke University as the Head coach of course. His first season at Duke he went 17-13 and during his whole career at Duke he has had only 2 losing seasons which is remarkable for an NCAA coach who has coached there for 37 seasons. Coach K’s career record stands at an astonishing 1057- 325 which leaves him at a .765 win percentage. Coach K has coached in 229 games while his team was ranked #1 in the nation. His average win margin in his 1057 wins is 17.2 points. He has beaten a total of 191 different schools, has won a game in 30 different states and has beaten Maryland more than any other school. Half of his players have played in at least one final four. Coach K has had 47 of his former players go on to play in the NBA. 7 of his players have been named national player of the year and 75 times a Duke player has been named to the All-ACC team. Coach K has reached the final four 13 times and the national championship game 9 times. They have gone on to win the national championship 5 times. Coach K has the court at Cameron indoor stadium named after him. Duke has 56 banners hanging inside of Cameron Indoor stadium because of Coach K and his teams. Coach K has 13
