Would you want to live in a country of communism where everyone is equal or a democracy where you can make your own decisions. Well, the Cold War was mainly about the best form of government, communism vs. democracy. The Cold War actually did not involve violence, but only threats for violence. The United States and the USSR were the two countries in the Cold War and they were actually very close to going into a full on nuclear war. The conflict between these two nations began in 1948 three years after WWII and lasted till 1991 when communism collapsed in the Soviet Union. Over the course of the Cold War, many major events happened including the Korean War. The Korean War was a battle between North and South Korea. In this essay, I will be writing about the start of the Korean War, the causes, and the result of this 3 year battle. Of course every War has to be created by one simple action. According to history.com, all the commotion started on June 25, 1950 in the beginning of the Korean War. While reading “Korean War Fast Facts” by CNN.com, I discovered that after the Japanese surrendered in WWII , the Soviets took control of the North of the 38th parallel till 1948. Also the US controlled the south until 1948. Obviously, these two countries with two different governments created countries with the same form of government as theirs. CNN.com describes how they formed the Republic of South Korea and the Democratic peoples of North Korea. This created conflict between the two different countries/governments and North Korea was willing to fight for the reunification of communism in South Korea.
