Uprising in Hungary • 1956 • Students demonstrate against Hungary for their Soviet-imposed Communist government • Two weeks after the riots begin, Soviet troops invade and kill thousands of civilians • The U.S. did not intervene

Prague Spring • 1968 • Reforms are attempted to be instituted by Czechoslovakia’s Communist Party • Media and the introduction multiparty democracy are failures • Reforms are stopped by
