In this article I will discuss Hui, Victoria Ka-Ying, and Peter G. Coleman’s theory on how reincarnation beliefs protect older adult Buddhist against death anxiety and how they all approached this theory. Their theory is that reincarnation is not seen as a mechanism for relieving Chinese Buddhist of their death anxieties but as a way to renew past sufferings due to unwanted karma.
