About three or so weeks before the parade I got the phone call my mom was coming from Georgia to Virginia I was ecstatic because I hadn't seen her in two months. Thats a lot of time to go without seeing your mother. Fast Forward 1 week until the parade I’ve even already packed for the upcoming weekend and told all my friends about it. I was put in such an awkward position when I received another phone call on how she booked her flight back on the wrong day and wouldn't be able to come up. Later that night I called her and sat on the phone in weeping because of how much I missed her the even worse news was it would be another month until I saw her again. Age 14 is not the age to be worried about when the next time you see your other should be. One positive outlook of this story is how you instantly appreciate your parents and how much just seeing them day in and day out is a blessing often times kids take their parents being there for granted but going to this school I realized how much I appreciated having them around.
