Growing up, I was a gymnast, and that’s all I thought I was ever going to be. My parents were tae-kwon-doists themselves, and they had always tried to get me interested in the martial art. I admit, for years I shied away from the idea, because I was intimidated. It wasn’t until my freshman year of high school that I realized what I was missing out on. I had decided to leave gymnastics and was in need of a new sport. So my father decided to surprise me with a trial lesson, and I was terrified. But, he got me through the door, and within ten minutes, I had fallen in love. I never could have imagined what I was getting myself into when I decided to join the Tiger Kim’s family. Tae-kwon-do seemed to come into my life just in time. I’m sure everyone can remember the awkward years of high school, especially the first few months of freshman year. After I began tae-kwon-do, drama with friends started up, and soon enough, I was dreading going to school. Even so, every day I looked forward to going to tae-kwon-do. I was so excited to go to class, eager to learn new things and earn my tips. Little did I know, that the opportunity to join the part-time staff would later present itself. First and foremost, I would like to thank Master Medina for believing in me and taking on the task of my initial training. I absolutely love the experiences I’ve had as a Tiger Kim’s instructor. No matter how bad of a day I’ve had, I always leave my shift with a smile because of my students. Teaching in classes has taught me so many things, humility, confidence, initiative, all things I will forever carry with
