It was this love of travel and cultural study mixed with my desire to work in the medical field that led me to major in Biology and International Studies. After medical school I would like to be able to take time to travel abroad and work with an international aid organization. After my freshman year of college, I was able to get first hand experience as I traveled with a group from Cure International to Lusaka, Zambia. During this time I was able to gain a new perspective on health care. One of the largest differences between Zambia and the United States is access to health care and despite these circumstances most of the patients maintained a calm and happy attitude. The patients, their families, and their stories were inspiring and reaffirmed my desire to enter the field on medicine and continue to be a motivating force as I pursue this
