Have you ever thought how important every job was in the Colonial Market and how jobs were different from today. I will be telling you about how the Quilter was important in this market. In this essay I will be talking about three topics and they are, history of the trade, job description, and lastly expenses and costs.

Why the demand for quilts is because of the colder weather. What was the purpose of these Trades? It was for the cold winter and need something to cover yourself with. It benefited others by how they would warm families that didn't have furnaces.or when a furnace couldn't have been used and they need an item to cover themselves with. The resources need to make a quilt by hand is thread or wool quilting needles. What tools are needed is a a bunch of quilting needles and a threading needle, lastly a quilting hoop to hold your quilt together. Even though the job was more of a past time for people it did still cost which is our next topic of this Essay.

Their ( the Quilters) most interesting skill that a quilter had is the sewing skill in which they used to sew their quilts and other blankets of such. The materials were very scarce and cloth was brought from the old lands like England. The manufacturing of quilts in Colonial times were very slow because they did them all by hand, because no machines for sewing was invented.They also did quilting in their off time instead of it being a job. Thus they spent a lot of their money on fabrics, and such with no real help. In this paper you learned about History of trade, the basic description of the job, and lastly the cost and expenses. As a total the job of a quiltmaker was very important to the colonial times and how it helped though the cold winters. And it wasn't a big help to the economy very well with trading and bartering.
