Viola Davis is an American actress and producer. Octavia Spencer, who won a best supporting actress Oscar for “The Help”, is only the sixth black woman to win an Academy award for acting. The year of 1940 Hattie McDaniel became the very first black woman to be nominated for and win, and Oscar. This is where the segregated part came in at, her and her guest were seat at a segregated table. She did not remain seated with everyone else, her table was elsewhere. Since Hattie’s nomination only five African American women won an acting Oscars award.

Chris Rock recently hosted the 88th Oscars award.
