Colson should have felt a deep compassion for his fellow inmates who were being mistreated by the guards is he was following Jesus’ example of loving your enemies. Lovingly, Christ had given Mr. Colson a heart like his. This was a gift that he had to believe in Christ to receive. Nevertheless, he used this gift to help keep him from getting into deeper trouble in the prison. Moreover, he witnessed inmates senselessly throwing away their lives over a petty fight. These senseless squabbles landed several convicts up to 10 extra years in jail.
The third reason Mr. Colson should have felt a deep compassion for his fellow inmates who were being mistreated by the guards is Jesus used CC as a beacon to lost. He had a myriad of lost souls while he was incarcerated. Chuck had a heart to see that the other criminals needed better coats for the coming winter and came up with a way of dying other warmer jackets in the wash to change them to an acceptable color (all coats and pants must be dark green in color and these fuzzy jackets were brown) therefore providing warmth and protection from the biting
