1. Who are the Pima Indians? Describe their history.
• The Pima Indians “river people”. Were a group of indigenous Americans who settle in what is now central and southern Arizona. The Pima Indians originated from Mexico, and are now settled on two reservoirs in Arizona. They are known for being the masters of weavers, farmers, as well as excellent runners.

What community determinants and conditions support the development of diabetes?
• The social causes of diseases start off with social inequalities. Due to low income, low employment rate, lack of education privileges, and poor literacy. The primary behavioral risk factors for diabetes are also determined by social conditions, while individual and social risk factors tend to compound each other by clustering together. http://www.cdc.gov/diabetes/consumer/groups.htm#1 8. What community determinants and conditions are currently in place that helps prevent diabetes?
• Encouraging individuals to live a healthier lifestyle by creating physical activity ads. Screenings and check-ups are being implemented to try to prevent diabetes.
9. Explain in detail how political-economic factors have influenced the prevalence of diabetes in the Pima population?
• Fatty and sweet foods have influenced the prevalence of diabetes in the Pima population, these processed foods have had negative impact on the community.
10. Describe how cultural factors have influenced the prevalence of diabetes in the Pima
