I also did a brief scanning through the crowd and targeted the area in which most of the professionals in the tech industry stand. Furthermore, I ensured that I was ready to network with others by preparing a handful amount of questions relating to what I want to learn and pursue in the future. In order to prepare myself, I was researching about the delegates and their experiences in order to strengthen my confidence and prepare myself to ask specific and job-related questions. My research comprises of scanning through the delegate list provided by COMM 202 and reading the experiences and job positions of each delegate. Additionally, after selecting certain delegates whose professions belong in the tech industry, I went on to read more about the company that they work for to grab a feel of understanding towards the culture and the environment of the company. I also went over each of the delegate’s LinkedIn profiles, to see their interests and understand more about their job position and their prior experiences with different companies. For instance, one of the delegates that I selected, Peter Zhao, is currently a software develop at SAP, his LinkedIn profile provided me with great details on the technical skills that I should learn and the kind of experiences or projects that I should create to better prepare myself for the future in the tech industry. Moreover, I was glad to see that we share similar interests and backgrounds such as completing the IB program during high school.
