Night is a work by Elie Wiesel regarding his experience with his father in the Nazi German concentration camps, at the height of the Holocaust. On page nine, Wiesel holds the Hungarian government accountable for the grim future of the Jewish community. Wiesel states that the Hungarian government allowed German troops to successfully “penetrate Hungarian territory”. Elie places this blame because the people who were supposed to be used to protect people from harm failed him when he needed their services the most. In society, we expect our law enforcement officers to do their job, which is to defend and support the people that it is governing. However, the government of Hungary does the exact opposite in Elie’s eyes. Furthermore, any pride or
