When addressing the similarities and contrasts of Canada and America, there is much to be said about them. In terms of how they started they are different, yet similar. Their governments have similar constitutions, both derived from that of Britain. Likewise, the elections in both of these countries share some notable commonalities to that of Britain as well. To conclude there are many noticeable characteristics of Canada and America.
Firstly, Canada received independence through negotiation with Britain. However, America received independence through a revolution. Secondly, with reference to parties, there are 4 in Canada: Liberal, Conservative, The New Democratic Party, and the Green Party. In contradistinction to this system, in America there are only 2: Democrat, and Republican. Thirdly, Canada started with a Constitutional Monarchy, again in the same way as Britain. Notwithstanding, America started with a Republic, differing from the governing system of Britain. Finally, in the matter of commonalities, they do share one in this subject, which is that they both have a democratic and federal system.
