First of all, the government of Colombia is a Republic. A Republic is a type of government in which the people have a say in who leads their country by electing a leader. This is the same for America. Both countries government systems are divided into three branches. These three branches are the Executive Branch, the Judicial Branch and the Legislative Branch. Each branch of Colombia is organized the same way as the three branches of the U.S. The leader of the Executive Branch is the president which is the same in the U.S. Both America and Colombia also have a cabinet which is appointed by the President. Also both countries have elections for leaders every four years. Therefore the executive branches of America and Colombia are very similar. Next, there are also lots of similarities between the Judicial Branches of the United States and Colombia. Colombia has a lot more higher courts than the United States does. Both Colombia and the U.S religions are dominated by Christianity. Although, both countries are dominant in different types of Christianity. In Colombia, 90% of the population follows Christianity, 85% of Christians are Roman Catholic, about only 4% of Christians are Protestant and only 3% are Atheist or Agnostic (Study Country). In America Christianity is the dominant religion but Protestant is the more dominant type of Christianity. About 70.6% of Americans are Catholic and 40.1% of Americans are Protestant (pewforum.org).
