During the fifteenth century, Europeans began exploring the seas to discover shorter routes by the sea to India. Among their journeys, the Europeans found new lands. The people they met were unfamiliar to them. The Europeans were amazed by how these “savages” lived, the clothing they wore, and the weapons they made. With Christopher Columbus and Hernan Cortes explorations, the Europeans were exposed to the new civilizations. Europeans and Natives were introduced to new crop and livestock, and Natives were exposed to diseases. Columbus and Cortes landed around the same area with Cortes in Meso-America and Columbus on the islands in the Caribbean Sea. After landing, Cortes wrote down things he saw and the people he met.
