Keep it natural, or sleek it straight? Most girls do not even get asked this question when they reach a certain age or when their hair reaches a certain length. When I was ten years old, my mother made me relax my hair. I had no idea why she wanted my hair to be straight, but I remember her telling me that she wanted me to “look like every other little girl”. Having natural hair for me, means that I can do whatever I please with it, and my hair has been growing healthier, thicker, and fuller since I stopped getting my hair relaxed. I recommend going natural to all my friends who are concerned about the quality or damage of their hair. A person who has natural hair does not have to worry about damage because they are not putting harsh chemicals in their hair. Most natural hair products include natural ingredients that help promote hair growth and often times do not include any harsh chemicals to damage a person’s curl pattern.
The only down fall I had with having natural hair was finding the right products for my hair, for example some people can not use certain oils; such as coconut oil, on their hair. If a person decides to do a big chop like me, the first few months of the hair growing back will be a trial and error period. Having natural hair is worth it though, the end results are amazing. If a person is impatient and does not want to wait for their hair to grow, they can also wear wigs or braid their hair while they wait for the hair to grow
