English 3B: Compare and Contrast

Home school VS. Public school
For my compare and contrast essay I have decided to write about home schooling versus the public school system. These to subjects have so much in common, but yet such a perplexing difference. I choose these two subjects because I know a wide variety of information on both. I decided to compare these two subjects by the quality of education, the social interaction, and the student’s achievements. Home school is often more self-disciplined and self-motivated because you have to do your assignments on your own time. Public school is motivating as well, however you have due dates and specific assignments. In any type of school, peer pressure always plays a big role in a student’s life. In a home school environment that wouldn’t be a problem for the students life. It’s believed for students to become more independent and structured with their schooling once done at home. . Home schoolers are able to do their school work in which ever hour works best for them and usually finish their work within less time and have plenty of time to be able to participant in many social events.
Education in an important thing to consider when one is deciding which school to attend. Students have to have multiple hours of social interaction during their week in order to develop their public relations and personality. Also, the ending result and the achievements the student makes are important and come from the way they have learned in the past. Home school education is compared to the honorable or AP courses in public school. Public school has a great education system, but it’s made for the average level learning student. In a classroom full of twenty-eight students with different learning levels it may be harder for certain students to get the extra help they need. Education should always come first, but in a full classroom that might come last in certain cases. Besides school, these students need their social interaction and activity time to keep their minds occupied. Home school and public school both allow these opportunities. Public school students spend their days inside a school building, plus multiple hours after school finishing homework, leaving less time for sports, or other activities.
Approximately 43 percent of students in public schools reported being bullied from 2010 to 2014 by the National Center for Education Statistics. Of those public schools the percentage only increases. While a student learning the same subjects at home
