In comparison, the community/public health nursing practice and hospital based nursing practice both educate on the prevention of illnesses. For example, a home health nurse can educate a vulnerable patient on the importance of getting a flu shot to prevent triggering a certain illness from the flu. When working in my facility, I educate the importance of a flu shot with patients with chronic illnesses in order to prevent complications from the flu. Community/public health nurses must communicate effectively by assessing health literacy (Nies & McEwen, 2015). Hospital based nursing does the same. Before I educate my patient, I assess their ability on how to obtain, process, and understand health information. Community health nursing practice manages care to individuals, families or groups to help the health of the population (Nies & McEwen, 2015). Public health nursing practice focuses on preventing health outbreaks over
