The Lewis and Clark Expedition all started with President Thomas Jefferson. As a kid Thomas Jefferson always wanted to send someone on a mission or expedition. As he grew older he was elected President of the United States. So he eventually sent Meriwether Lewis , he knew he would need help so he asked William Clark and he said that he would help . When Congress finally approved the plan in 1803 and gave money for it , Jefferson named Lewis to head it, and Lewis selected William Clark as his associate in command.
During the mission they had to deal with bad weather or major thunderstorms . They didn’t just have thunderstorms but also crazy heat ,cold temperatures , hail storms , and dust clouds.
Their worst winter storm that they had to deal with was the storm at Fort Clatsop near the Pacific coast in the early 1806.
According to the U.S. army it rained all but 12 days during that winter and that the explorers’ clothes rotted off their backs.
These are just a few of the hardships during the expedition.
In Conclusion ,This is what I learned about the Lewis and Clark Expedition. I learned about the origin and route, reasons and expedition, key people involved in the expedition, hardships experienced on the journey, and effects on the mission.
I know how it started and how it ended. I know when the expedition started and when the expedition finished. I even where the hardships were made . In Conclusion this is how much I have learned about The Lewis and Clark
