Words are a type of art of how people express themselves. They are used in many different forms to evoke certain feelings. Edward Tufte criticizes how people have abandoned the art of a deeper connection to others with words, and how people choose to chop up ideas into bullet points so that there is no longer a true connection. Ellen Lupton however, writes about the history of the evolution of words, and how their meanings have changed into the modern era. These two author’s essays coincide. Ellen Lutpon sets up how writing came to be the great from of art to express the feelings of the artist, while Edward Tufte teaches how society is losing its greatest form of art through PowerPoint.
